An over-sized black SUV limo occupies the driveway; it looks like an armored vehicle, ready to take us on our journey, one full of promise, where East will meet West at the Jackson-Triggs Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. http://www.jacksontriggswinery.com
We hope you’ve been enjoying the multitude of wonderfully delicious and diverse alternative white wines we chatted about last issue.

Dear Wine Ladies,
Our grandmother often enjoys a glass of sherry or port after dinner. Her 75th birthday is coming up and we’d like to surprise her with something a little different. Someone suggested we buy her a bottle of Madeira, which we have done but really know nothing about. Could you give us an idea of what Madeira is so we can sound a little more informed when she opens her gift? Thanks and much appreciated.

Georgia is absolutely in heaven! Her two most favorite things in the world all in one week… wine and golf, golf and more golf!
Indeed because we are The Wine Ladies it doesn’t mean we can’t deviate from the grape every once in awhile and “drink outside the box” and venture into another territory all together.
Dear Wine Ladies,
This is a question about wine and proper etiquette. I am currently dating a gentleman who continuously, while dining out, sends the wine he orders back, declaring the wine is faulty. This happens all the time and is very embarrassing! What is the proper protocol when it comes to this?

Halleluiah! Barbeque season is finally here. Since we’re not ones to barbeque all year long, eschewing below-freezing temperatures, we anxiously await the perfect blend of warmth, sunshine, and languorous relaxing days before taking to the grill.

Dear Wine Ladies,
When it comes to decanting wines, how does one know whether it’s necessary or not?
I’ve also noticed there are different styles of decanters, is this just a question of taste? Excuse the pun.

Whether you call it tannin teeth, or wine tattoo everyone from the daintiest drinkers to the most serious slurpers all fall victim to the unattractive dark film that red wine leaves on your smile.

We recently had the opportunity to visit with and guest appear LIVE on Valerie Gibson’s popular Rogers TV Ontario-wide show “Dear Valerie”.
Dear Wine Ladies,
As a lover of very basic foods, I am most grateful to a friend of mine who just introduced me to one of her favorites, tempura.
