Screw Caps

Dear Wine Ladies,

As a total believer in screwcaps I am often tested repeatedly about my conviction. How do we rate as a nation in screwcap acceptance? I understand the Aussies are leading?

Dear Jennifer,
 
Actually New Zealand is right up there with approximately 90% scewcap acceptance, with the Aussies not too far behind at 83%. Sweden and the UK are pretty close at 78%, and Japan, interestingly at 77%. We’re a little slow out of the gate here with Canada’s acceptance at 59%, along with the U.S, and Germany is even less enthusiastic with 52%. All data courtesy of Drinks International, May 2008.
