Toronto June 4th, 2010: It’s not about drinking more, it’s about drinking better, announced Dimi Lezinska, Grey Goose Global Ambassador. Grey Goose www.greygoose.com vodka is considered the world’s favourite luxury vodka. Made in Cognac, France it is often the choice of vodka aficionados, the who’s who and celebrities of the world. Just back from Cannes, France, Dimi was here in Toronto as part of his cross-Canada tour bringing knowledge of this summer’s hottest cocktail trends and tips. We were invited to a private tasting at Celebrity TV Chef Roger Mooking’s Kultura Restaurant www.kulturarestaurant.com Friday afternoon to enjoy Dimi’s latest cocktail creations for the summer made with GREY GOOSE® L’Orange Flavoured Vodka, GREY GOOSE® La Poire Flavoured Vodka, and GREY GOOSE® Vodka. All of these vodkas are available in Ontario at the LCBO ( $46.95 per bottle) A very handsome, tall man and dressed as only the French know how, we were struck by Dimi’s charm, charisma and depth of knowledge. He is a true master of his craft, a “cocktail curator” who specializes in the fine art of mixology. Not surprising, as we later discovered that Dimi is a celebrity in his own right having achieved international recognition as the co-host of the Discovery Channel’s hugely popular “Cocktail Kings,” a guide to some of the best cities in the world and the cocktails to enjoy in their most stylish bars, restaurants and hotels and seen on TV in over 50 countries. We tried a stunning array of elegant, delicious and simple to make at home cocktails for any entertaining occasion.“As The Wine Ladies”, Dimi announced, “I must first make you my GREY GOOSE® Moonlight Martini made of course with red wine.” We were simply delighted that he had created a special cocktail that would combine this prestigious vodka with our usual beverage of choice. We were not disappointed, as the appearance, taste and aroma of this cocktail tantalized our various senses to create an unforgettable experience. We agreed with Dimi as he announced that “any better would be simply unbearable”. A work of art for all the senses, aromatic with the essense of the l’orange deftly floating around the rim of the glass with the berries and the Shiraz offering a hint of spice and dark fruit, brilliantly deep purple laced with a dash of bright red and a taste that defies words. Perfect for an afternoon cocktail, racy and delicious. GREY GOOSE® MOONLIGHT MARTINI 1 Part GREY GOOSE® L’Orange Flavoured Vodka 1 Part freshly pureed blackberries ∏ Part fresh lemon juice 1/3 Part sugar syrup 1 Part Red Wine Fill a cocktail shaker with all ingredients. Add ice and shake vigorously until shaker beads with sweat. Serve in a chilled martini glass and garnish with orange zest. Tip: Try making this cocktail with different wines, including a rich Pinot Noir and Malbec. Next on the list was a drink made with GREY GOOSE® La Poire Flavoured Vodka. Before we even began, he first poured us each an ounce of this vodka and swirled it with ice. The aromas of the pears were simply stunning as Georgia proclaimed, “this is incredible, you don’t even need to drink this but simply enjoy the aroma in the glass all night long!” Bonus…..less calories that way! Then, a cocktail including champagne/sparkling wine. As The Wine Ladies we always say this beverage is never enjoyed nearly enough so to include it in this cocktail was simply a brilliant idea. Susanne announced, “I’m having a Girls Night Out BBQ in June and that this would be simply a fabulous drink to serve my B.F.F’s.” Ok. With a sweep of the hand, Susanne was summoned behind the bar with the master himself to create the GREY GOOSE® LA POIRE GOLDENROD. A light and refreshingly elegant cocktail, served in a flute with what appears to be the signature garnish, the zest of the orange, inspired by Grey Goose founder ______backyard orange tree. Simply delightful, delicate, slightly floral in the nose, with pears and the hint of citrus creating perfect harmony in the glass.
