Jim Treliving from the CBC TV series “Dragons’ Den”.
We had the thrill of sitting down for a chat and a glass of fine Jackson-Triggs Meritage wine with dragon Jim Treliving from the CBC TV series “Dragons’ Den”. Charming, charismatic and easy to talk to, he’s known as “the tough guy with a soft spot for a good deal and a delicious meal”. He is the man behind Boston Pizza, Canada’s No. 1 casual dining brand. Having started with a $5000 loan from his Dad, Jim and his partner have parlayed that small some of money into over a $800 million dollar casual-dining chain spread across North America.
Jim has investments in many other successful business ventures including residential real estate development, The Mr. Lube (for a quick oil change), sports entertainment and the Texas oil and gas industry and more.
Jim serves as chairman of both Global Entertainment Corporation. It trades on the American Stock Exchange under GEC, and the Boston Pizza Foundation. On top of that he has raised almost $10.0 million for various Canadian charities since 1990. He is also a director of the Hockey Canada Foundation, dedicated to increasing funding for minor league hockey in Canada.
He loved our signature The Wine Ladies glasses and gave us a few business ideas. Jim shared some stories on the celebrities he has met over the years, his favorite Boston pizza and wine match too.
